Frank Bruni is the ultimate self promoter. People need to remember what a lousy job he did in covering the 2000 Bush campaign. He allowed himself to be completely manipulated by the campaign. By his own admission in "Born Round," he's not a strong hard news reporter. He's a stylish writer, but he's more about promoting himself and sucking up to the powerful inside and outside the New York Times than anything else. Readers of this blog might be interested in this review of Bruni's last book, the wretched "Ambling Into History": http://dir.salon.com/politics/feature/2002/03/04/brunibook/print.html
