NYT's Michael Barbaro Tells The NYTPicker: Hey, You're Not Posting Enough Items Attacking My Employer!

We've just received the following email from the NYT's Michael Barbaro, who covers New York city and state politics. He seems to think we're not devoting enough time to investigating his employer's wrongdoings.

In an email to The NYTPicker at 7:27 pm this evening, under the heading "Six days without a post," Barbaro wrote:

I really do think that the biggest scandal of your blog is that you somehow find fault with a deeply reported paper that comes out every day -- and online, every hour -- while you post items once every, well, never.

Barbaro's right. We're ashamed of ourselves. We promise that our 1,150-person paid editorial staff will get right back to work on some new posts, as soon as Carlos Slim's check clears.

Is he not confident enough in the Times to have a 6 day stretch with nothing nitpick worthy?

You never were a hard worker, David. Maybe that's why you couldn't hold down a job.

Dan Barry's piece this week on the bowling alley in the old Times building was, as usual, very deft, a lovely work. As was Henry Alford's inventive story on inviting a health inspector to his house for dinner.

Nobody with such a self-satisfied hipster smirk should be allowed to travel outside of Brooklyn without risking a punch in the face.

Wow, way to be a dick, NYTPicker....

The title refreshes memories on how the cutthroat pace of their posting was last altered.

By the way, anybody who uses "lovely" in a sentence in anything other than an ironic sense also qualifies for a punch in the face. The same goes for "enchanting," with no exception even for irony.

I am not in any hurry to see fault found with the Times. I don't mind it when they are told, justly, if they are wrong, but since I am one of those who believe that America needs the Times, I hope they don't make too many mistakes.

To Annon who is two ppl above my post, and criticizing Barbaro's use of the word "lovely," that's just so mean, as I've heard those words employed by him, and they're always in praise of a colleague. Perhaps they've never been directed towards your work? That's just an unkind thing to write, about a good reporter and good person.

Dear Anon: You suggested it. I am 6' 2", 220, old and fat. If I outweigh you, I will step outside with one hand tied behind and take whatever anonymously enchanting punishment you care to dish out.

I find it revealing that NYT reporters visit this site every day waiting for new posts. Does that mean they actually entertain the possibility that the NYT isn't flawless?

so i guess this email wasn't treated as confidential like you say all emails to you are...

Who, with a working sex organ, gives a frack about the NYT toilet paper?

How about a blog on Field and Stream?
