Whoops! "She Doesn't Come Off As An Older, Desperate Person," 28-Year-Old Groom Tells NYT, Of 37-Year-Old Bride.

Will this marriage make it past the publication of their NYT wedding announcement this morning?

In today's NYT Styles section, the wedding blurb for 28-year-old Nathan Love and his 37-year-old bride, Karen Alinauskas, included an extended section about the couple's romance. Towards the end, it addressed the nine-year age gap between husband and wife.

"Later that February, when she thought that she could be falling for him, she began to question the differences in their ages," NYT weddings reporter Rosalie R. Radomsky wrote. "'I was thinking a 26-year-old is definitely not serious,' Ms. Alinauskas said. But she added that Nizza Heyman, her friend, told her: 'Don’t question love. Just enjoy yourself.'"

Turning to Love, Radomsky found the groom with his foot hoveringly perilously close to his mouth. She asked him about the age difference, whereupon he shoved it in -- perhaps permanently.

"As for Mr. Love, age was never really a concern. 'She’s brilliant and has a young soul,' he said. 'She doesn’t come across as an older, desperate person.'"

Fortunately for Love, the wedding took place last Monday evening.

Reads more like a vicious obit than something joyous.

a propos of something else, would nitpicker comment on the selection of fluff queen trish hall as op-ed editor? seems awfully odd that such a significant, intellectually challenging position would go to someone whose greatest achievement was, as her boss put it, conceiving the escapes section while she was a freelance. she may well be a genius, but oughtn't the page to be edited by someone with credentials as a political thinker or intellectual and grand experience in the world of US and international affairs?

Never mind that. Back to the important stuff: weddings.

Can you explain what the deal is with these twenty graf wedding announcements that tell the story of meetings, blah blah blah of otherwise unremarkable and not all that interesting couples? Are these paid story placements? Inquiring minds want to know.

@6:22, Hall may be a secret member of the Illuminati or of a lesser order, guising her internationalism under airheaded pursuits, you can just never be too sure these days.

All in all, wishing Nathan and Karen Love a blessed union for ages to come.

NITPICKER - Please tell us the vicious, backbiting backstory of Trish Hall's elevation. And what does it mean? A portent of doom for serious journalism? Or the arrival of a Pulitzer for best wedding announcement?

If the commenters on this list had been the singers of the Declaration of Independence, there'd be enough room at the bottom for ....

Oh, well, forget it.

Dear Mr. Christopher Gray,

Which tune would you like us to sing it to?

She has one.

Seriously, @6:22 is right -- the Times names an op-ed editor from the stable of Martha Stewart and Nytpicker is silent? You're slipping, guys.

Don't worry @12:40, the Times Mag has also hired a wannabe-pornographer editor from the pig stye of that uber dickhardy men of Mitt Romney's bonfire circle, to inject the news with a piece of unrelenting latter day Nazi cannon. Worth a fishing exped, Nazi hunters will not be disappointed!

@8:15 - Tell me more, tell me more, like does he have a scar???? who is he????

and @Christopher Gray, I will sing the declaration of independence if you can name the New York homes of all the signers of the Declaration of Independence and what has since been erected on those sites.

I am 15 years older than my husband. When people find this out, they always comment. It's a man-bites-dog situation. It would be an omission of RRR not to ask and for the subject not to answer.

@10:26 which HE?

Romney has a file, no scars.

Nitpicker could never tell you the inside story of anything at the Times. He hasn't a clue. Every time he tries, he gets it wrong.

Nitpicker tells us why Deborah Solomon has left the magazine?

Anybody home? Hello?

Well I guess David finally gave up when he realized that his concept of a smart, relevant journalism blog couldn't be sustained with the third-rate talent he had on board. He seems to have pulled back after lying about his involvement, surfacing only to rein in the staff's more juvenile excesses.
Eventually, he'll have to fess up and hope that his credibility hasn't been entirely compromised, but I don't think he'll ever be respected again by his peers.
We all remember what he did to Rebecca Ruiz.

Another anonymous comment criticizing NYTPicker (whoever is/was behind it) for being anonymous.

I hope this site stays open, so I can continue my amazement at the comments of thin-skinned, anonymous New York Times reporters as they belittle press critics who try to uphold the paper's standards. We don't know who you are, but you do.

NYTPicker always struck me as having enormous affection for the paper. Personally, I hope it rumbles back to life one day soon.

That was your takeaway?
Maybe you should read it again and and try to understand the damage done.
I've heard that Google is a nifty resource, Anonymous.

Maybe NYTPICKEr will diversify his portfolio t op ick on other media outlets. Maybe it will never happen. There is huge market for this kind of thing, like it'd be nice to know which media personalities are positioned (like in football) to mark and defeat which media personalities. Which organizations where propped up especially on line to weaken whom, and who bets against what, that kind of thing, and it's different from the pick, which picks on the NYT but it doesn't even pick, it's media critique, a noble and worthwhile effort, it's entertaining, and educational.

AWOL 33 days and counting, David.
This is worse than the time you disappeared at the WSJ and then lied about where you were. Boston, wasn't it?
Remember how that turned out?
