The NYT Takes "Daily Show" Critique To Heart, Begins Tweeting About Bodily Functions, As They Happen!

Beginning about nine hours ago, the NYT began a new kind of "today's news" coverage on Twitter -- the kind that offers the sort of immediate reporting alluded to in the "Daily Show" report Wednesday night on the NYT. We can only hope for more of this real-time updating of current events from the newspaper of record.

The puerile joy of someone losing his blackberry. But if you'd read other tweets from around then, you'd know that.

The Daily Show critique seemed misplaced. Do they use wirelines at the Daily Show? I bet. And do they take down video snippets even if they're more than a day old? Do they care if their so-called topical content gets aged? Nope. They leave it up because it's relevant.

The worst thing that could happen to the NYT is if someone really takes the poorly aimed jokes to heart and start putting up ill-thought-out twitters just because someone makes a joke about it.

Anonymous #1 is from the New York Times, obviously, because he uses the word "puerile."

"ArtsBeat is a Web site devoted to culture news and reviews, and to the work and interests of the reporters and critics of the culture department of The New York Times."

This is from the ArtsBeat website description of itself. I don't see what all the fuss is about. This post clearly relates to the "work and interests" of the culture department. My guess is that several of them are working on similar posts right now.
